Week One: The Adventure Has Begun

This trip has been simply astonishing thus far. My growth as a human being and a music therapist has been fostered in so many ways.
In the realm of music therapy, I have found the class discussions to be academically and fundamentally applicable to my growth as a music therapist. I feel like my critical thinking skills as well as my ability to explain and analyze information has been fostered immensely. I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing the thoughts of my classmates throughout their experience as a student music therapist. I look forward to pondering and exploring many other elements of music therapy in the future classes.
Culturally, my world was completely rocked in the best of ways. The first was when Ruby, Jaclyn, Annemarie and I met a new friend, Serey. She really took us under her wing and showed us around Allstadt. She has also made multiple efforts to begin some off campus interactions with other students in the music therapy program. The second experience was when we visited Baden Baden today. This is the place where my ancestors came from on the "Schad or Schaede" side of the family. Getting to connect with my roots was an amazing experience. We adventured around town and enjoyed the beauty that was this city. We explored the fountains, strange sculptures, an antique market, and the best of all, the Black Forrest. We took a tram up to the top of the city in the hills of the Black Forrest. It was breathtaking to see the city from above. It was amazing to see such a beautiful place, and to know that I had lineage somewhere in those marvelous buildings.
I am beyond excited to see what the next few weeks bring!!
