First Week's Conglomerate of an Indescribable Journey

Starting this study abroad experience has been absolutely incredible.  I really am having a hard time putting this all into words.  So, I'll start with the classwork.  We're at the university in the music therapy building in discussions that are so thought provoking and forward thinking.  It's really exciting seeing new perspectives from students from other universities.  Music therapy is so dynamic and it really is so personal and so unique to each school.  But when you sit down and think about it, we're all contributing to the greater good of our future profession.  I am so impressed with this music therapy program over here.  They don't worry about adding to a repertoire list on their primary instrument, but they do spend a whole semester perfecting their piano, guitar, and percussion skills.  They lead a jam session that was dumbfounding.  Their improvisation skills are so impressive and their comfort level in front of large groups of people is really cool.  I'm going to continue to develop a greater musicianship and confidence in my abilities to help me become a better music therapist.
As far as our meals go: the food is great, the beer is delicious, the wine is flavorful, and the company is a joy.  We all grab meals together or make ours together and it's great to be able to meet people and interact outside of the classroom.
As far as our adventures go:  I've been all around the city of Heidelberg (die Altstadt).  It was awesome being able to go back to the castle.  I was there a few years back and I was able to explore even more this time and enjoy the journey.  I think that's what it has all been about - enjoying and taking my time and exploring the nooks and crannies of these cities.  It truly is a comforting and eye-opening feeling.  A music therapy student from Heidelberg showed us how to get around the city, which was so extremely beneficial!  We've hiked the outskirts of the city and seen incredible views.  Today's adventure was to Baden-Baden to see die Schwarzwald.  We went up into the tower and saw the most stunning view of what seems like the top of the world.
The world is filled with so many incredible adventures and I am still amazed to wake up every day to a new exploration of the world and myself.
